Moving on to Shelf B of the S.C.A.R. charity shop
Next Weds (28/6) at 9:30 am I will try to straighten the next shelf (Shelf B).
Yesterday I popped into the shop later in the day to look at the this shelf (Shelf B). Which is the tall one beside the shelf I worked on yesterday and took some measurements using an 8" length of 2" x 1".
Height of Shelf B: 211.5 cm / 211.5 cm (for baton)
Length of Shelf D rail: 191 cm (for rebar)
Length of Shelf A rail: 165.5 cm (for rebar)
I was pleasantly surprised that I could easily straighten it with my hand - so a single baton bolted down above the shelf would probably work. (I guess the bags on it are empty and pretty light)
I also discussed with Nicky adding rebar inside the stainless steel horizontal rails. This would remove the need for chains to support the middle of these rails and so take some pressure off the shelf above :)
Nicky also suggested adding right angled brackets under the shelves which is what I intend to try on the men's clothes shelf (Shelf D).
So I aim aiming to fix Shelf B next Weds at 9:30 and to try out some rebar then as well (assuming I can straighten and cut some I salvaged yesterday morning! :)
